Founded in 2020 by Mihir Gupta, Anshuman Kumar, Divyansh Bordia, and Payoj Jain, Teachmint is an Indian company that provides education infrastructure and a teaching platform to enable educators to conduct online classes in virtual classrooms, engage with students, assign tasks, conduct attendance, and collect fees. The company caters to the end-to-end infrastructure needs of educators including K-12 schools, tutors, universities, and other EdTech companies. As of October 2021, the company had served over 10 million teachers and students, and 4,000 educational institutions across India. In December 2021, Teachmint launched its platform in 25 countries across Asia including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
In December 2021, Teachmint made its first three acquisitions. Teachmore, a marketplace for teachers to sell online courses, live classes, quizzes, and other educational products, was acquired first, followed by Teachee, another marketplace for teachers to sell educational products. Next, Teachmint acquired Airlearn, a video-based live teaching and learning solutions platform, for an undisclosed sum, in a cash and stock deal, allowing it to integrate Airlearn into “Teachstack,” Teachmint’s developer-focused offering that enables EdTech companies to build classroom solutions. Its most recent acquisition was in January 2022, when it acquired MyClassCampus, an educational enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, which will be combined with Teachmint for Institute’s learning management system (LMS) for schools, higher ed institutes, universities, and coaching centers. Teachmint for Institute has been deployed across 4,000 institutes in India since its launch in July 2021.
In February 2022, the company announced the launch of its program ‘TeachBharat’ in which Teachmint committed to digitize 10,000+ schools across India for free. In May 2022, the company launched ‘Chalk & Chai,’ a forum to discuss, debate and exchange best practices among educators and school leaders. In April 2023, the firm launched TeachPay, a FinTech solution that aims to simplify the fee collection process for schools.
Teachmint revealed in December 2022 that it had let go of 45 employees across all departments, representing ~5% of its staff. The company attributed this decision to a restructuring process to achieve long-term efficiency and reduce redundancy in roles.
