Based in Chicago, Sabanto is a Farming-as-a-Service company which provides ready-to-use agriculture solutions to farmers using supervised autonomous equipment. Kubota’s (autonomous tractor manufacturer) tractor is equipped with precision planting technology provided by Sabanto and can cover about 500 acres in 24 hours (continuous operation), but needs human intervention toward the end of a crop field. The company aims to eliminate this semi-autonomous feature.
Sabanto has partnered with established players like Climate FieldView to collect, store, and display field information. In addition, the company linked up with DigiFarm to offer virtual farm management. These services are provided to farmers on a rental basis, making such complete agriculture solutions readily available. The company states that its pricing is competitive and in line with the industry average of USD 20.4–23.4 per acre.
The company sought to cover 10,000 acres in 2019, but missed this target, attributing its underperformance to challenges presented by bad weather when deploying hardware and software. In August 2022, Sabanto also reported planting over 750 acres of corn and soybeans in one season using a single 60-horsepower tractor integrated with its advanced mission control platform.
In August 2022 , the company raised USD 17 million in Series A funding led by Fulcrum Global Capital. Further, the company received an investment for an undisclosed amount from Cooperative Ventures in November 2022 .
