Seurat Technologies offers a metal additive manufacturing (AM) solution known as “Area Printing,” focusing on automotive, aerospace, energy, and consumer electronics industries. This technology splits a single laser beam into as many as 2.3 million beams to weld metal powder. Each laser beam picks a spot to weld, making parallel production possible. The company claims its tech increases production rates by 10x relative to incumbent solutions in the market. Seurat does not sell 3D printers and operates through the Area Printing Production (APP) program, which prints qualified parts at the company’s localized production centers or partner centers closer to the customer. The first print depot was planned to be established at Seurat Technologies’ global headquarters in Wilmington, Massachusetts, with plans to establish more. The company aims to reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing by using green energy in its factories.
Key customers and partnerships
As of October 2023, the company had six letters of intent (LOIs) totaling 4,000 tons of material.
In May 2023, Seurat Technologies, partnered with Siemens Energy to 3D print 59 tons of metal components for its turbines.
Funding and financials
In October 2023, Seurat Technologies raised USD 99 million in a series C round led by Capricorn Investment Group. The funds were expected to be used to scale up production capabilities and deploy printing factories near customer sites worldwide, reducing emissions from transportation and logistics while reshoring supply chains.
