Founded by PayPal veteran, John Lunn, Gr4vy is a cloud-native payment orchestration platform (POP)—a framework that triggers, directs, and validates all transactions between merchants, customers, and payment service providers. The company manages payment infrastructure for online retailers and can be used to build customized solutions by embedding Gr4vy into existing checkouts to update their checkout page and reflect specific payment methods.
Gr4vy’s no-code design allows non-technical developers to centralize and integrate multiple payment methods and use its API to add new payment types over time. The platform works across multiple clouds (Google, Microsoft, Amazon), payment service providers and methods (Stripe, PayPal), e-commerce website building platforms (Shopify, Custom Carts), and transaction clearing networks (Visa, Mastercard), to provide flexibility and scalability to users managing their payments.
In addition to facilitating payments, the platform also offers a centralized reporting, monitoring, and management hub, which offers consolidated transaction reports.
Key customers and partnerships
The company has entered several partnerships to enable its merchants to accept open banking payments (directly from bank accounts). In September 2021, Gr4vy announced two partnerships with Banked and GoCardless , and subsequently partnered with Vyne , in February 2022.
Gr4vy also looks to expand its geographic reach through partnerships. It partnered with foreign payment infrastructure providers EBANX and Boku, in April 2022, to enable its customers to access local payment methods in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
Funding and financials
Gr4vy received a “multi-million” dollar investment from Woolworths Group's venture capital arm, W23, in June 2023, primarily to invest in expanding its operations in Australia and the APAC region. The company also aims to benefit from gaining insights into payment-related challenges faced by large retailers.
