Lowe’s Companies (NYSE: LOW) was the second-largest home improvement retailer globally in 2022. Lowe’s serves customers through omni-channel operations, which include stores, website, and on-site sales. As of February 2023, Lowe’s operated 1,738 stores in the US. In February 2023, the company divested its Canadian retail business, which included the operation of 232 stores. Lowe’s generated total revenue of USD 97.1 billion in FY2023 (year ended January 28th).

The company offers products under 14 categories, which are clustered under four key divisions: Home Décor, Building Products, Hardlines, and Other. Home Décor is the largest revenue-generating division (~37% of total revenue in FY2023) and includes fast-moving product categories such as Appliances, Décor, Flooring, Kitchens & Bath, and Paint. The Building Products division encompasses Building Materials, Electrical, Lumber, Millwork, and Rough Plumbing categories, and the Hardlines division includes Hardware, Lawn & Garden, Seasonal & Outdoor Living, and Tools categories.

Lowe’s divested in Canadian operations in February 2023 (which accounted for ~5% of total revenue in FY2023). With this, the US remains the sole market of Lowe’s, operating 1,506 stores as of March 2023.  

Lowe’s has announced a financial target to generate USD 88–90 billion in revenue and an operating margin of 13.6%–13.8% in FY2024. Lowe’s has announced its goal to reach net zero emissions by 2050.
