New York-based TBD Health is an asynchronous store and forward service provider that enables users to carry out at-home testing for STDs/STIs and obtain emergency contraception. The provider additionally offers in-clinic screenings at its center in Las Vegas and allows users to carry out telehealth consultations with clinicians should they test positive, require medication, or have questions about sexual health.
TBD’s virtual services include sending users an at-home testing kit on request where patients can collect samples for testing and ship them back for interpretation. TBD offers its services to both men and women and has served ‘thousands’ of patients already. The platform operates on a D2C model and charges patients on a fee-per-service basis.
Funding and financials
In January 2023, the company raised USD 4.4 million in a seed funding round led by Tusk Venture Partners along with participation from other venture capital firms. The funds raised were set aside to expand the company’s geographic footprint across the entire US. The company also planned to increase its service offerings and open more in-person clinics.
