In May 2022, the firm acquired Viraspace.ai, an AI-powered digital advertising insights tool and Ad-Lib.io , a creative management platform (January 2022) to enhance its capabilities and expand its marketing channels.

As of April 2022, the firm's platform was used by 700+ brands including Uber, Underarmour, Samsonite, and eBay. 

In April 2022, Smartly.io was recognized as a member of the Marketing partner program , the official creative partner, and a campaign management partner for TikTok, a video-based social media platform. Leveraging on this partnership, In August 2022, Smartly.io became the first-to-market with a TikTok Shopping Ads solution where it claims that 86% of advertisers who tested its solution saw a performance lift for the Shopping Ads test campaign.  

Funding and financials

In December 2019, the firm sold a majority stake to Providence Equity Partners for EUR 200 million (~USD 223 million), while its co-founders will retain significant ownership. Under the new management, the firm plans to leverage this to grow its global presence, particularly in the US.
