You.com is a multimodal search engine named “YouChat,” which can provide detailed answers to questions with citations, relevant web findings, and media data. YouChat is offered for free, while “YouPro” is a paid version named. Enterprise plans are also available. 

The platform is equipped with “AI Modes,” which include various functionalities named Smart, Genius, Create, and Research, to offer varying levels of depth and sourcing to any queries. The Smart Mode, available for free users, can complete tasks, generate content, and access news and live web results. The other modes are only available through the paid version and allows to perform advanced tasks like multistep computations, data visualizations, file uploads, generate images, and conduct thorough research. The Pro version also offers the ability to choose between several foundation models, including GPT-4 Turbo, Claude Instant, Claude 2, Gemini Pro, and Zephyr. 

In November 2023, You.com launched a new product known as YOU API to provide real-time access to internet data. The primary features of the YOU API included real-time web search, multilingual responses, extended snippets for AI, and usage rights for AI inference and data citation, addressing common challenges faced by LLMs and AI chatbots, such as hallucinations, source citation issues, and outdated information. It also offers a feature called Custom Assistants that allows customizable AI assistance for specific inquiries, eliminating the need for lengthy instruction. 

Key customers and partnerships

The company has partnered with MacOS browser SigmaOS (November 2022) and web browser Vivaldi (December 2022), which made the You.com platform their default browsers. 

Funding and financials

In July 2022, You.com raised USD 25 million in a Series A funding round led by Radical Ventures. The funds were slated to develop premium features for the platform and collaborate with third parties.
