Supercritical

Supercritical is a British carbon offset software platform that evaluates corporate carbon footprints, draws an action plan for reducing emissions, and provides carbon removal offsets for companies to purchase off the shelf. The carbon offsetting solutions available on Supercritical includes tree-planting, enhanced weathering, biochar, bio-oil sequestration, and direct air capture.

Key customers and partnerships

In May 2023 , the company collaborated with Carbo Culture, a Finnish biochar carbon removal startup, to pre-purchase 7,500 tons of CO2. Similarly in October 2023, Supercritical partnered with MASH Makes to pre-purchase 10,000 tons of biochar-based carbon removal from the latter. The company entered into a similar agreement with Rewind, an Israel-based biomass carbon removal and storage (BiCRS) company, to purchase carbon removal offsets in November 2023.  In September 2024, Supercritical partnered with biochar producer Exomad Green to provide buyers with biochar carbon credits from Exomad's South American operations.

The company’s customers include Rothschild & Co, XTX Markets, Veriff, Multiverse, IMC, Tide and what3words, among others. As of March 2024, Supercritical had claimed that 35% of corporate buyers of carbon removal were its customers.
