Squeaky Bean is a UK-based plant-based meat producer based. Its portfolio includes several varieties of plant-based chicken, beef, pork, deli meats, seafood, and ready meals available at major UK retailers like Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Waitrose, and Ocado.
In December 2022, the company expanded its portfolio with vegan Chorizo-style sausages. In May 2023, it launched vegan crumbed ham-style slices made using wheat and pea-based proteins.
In January 2024, the company debuted a range of frozen ingredients featuring Seasoned Chicken Style Pieces and Steak Style Strips at Waitrose stores. In May 2024, it launched a new meal kit and a variety of alternative meat snacks at Tesco supermarkets in the UK. Further, in August 2024, Squeaky Bean launched Crispy Bacon Style Strips, which are claimed to be the first ready-to-eat plant-based bacon available at a major retailer.
Key customers and partnerships
In May 2023, the company partnered with Chicago Town, a frozen pizza brand owned by German multinational company Dr. Oetker, to launch the latest iteration of Chicago Town's vegan pizza range.
Funding and financials
In August 2021, the company received an investment of GBP 5 million (USD 6.8 million) from its parent company Winterbotham Darby to construct its second production facility. The second production facility is expected to be 48,000 sq. ft. larger than their Milton Keynes facility and is estimated to create more than 100 jobs.
