Inflection AI was founded in 2022 by Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, and Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of AI startup DeepMind. Inflection AI's Pi is a personal AI designed to provide tailored support and knowledge based on individual interests. Powered by a proprietary large language model (LLM), it processes extensive web text data to engage in conversations and provide diverse assistance. Pi's capabilities include offering information on a wide array of topics, giving life advice, fostering creativity, aiding in problem-solving, assisting with goal setting, and engaging in casual chats. Pi can be accessed through various platforms, including the web, mobile, WhatsApp, SMS, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger.

The platform claims Pi strives to be kind, knowledgeable, and supportive on any topic; however, as Pi is in its early stages of development (September 2023), users are advised to verify its responses, particularly in critical areas such as legal, financial, or medical advice.

Key customers and partnerships 

In June 2023, the company partnered with NVIDIA (a software developer) and CoreWeave (a specialized cloud provider) to create a computing cluster consisting of 22,000 NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs. 

Funding and financials 

In June 2023, the company raised USD 1.3 billion in a funding round led by investors Microsoft, Reid Hoffman, Bill Gates, Eric Schmidt, and NVIDIA. It aims to make personal AI experiences more accessible and user-friendly.
