Founded in 2021 by two Babson College students, High Time Foods develops plant-based meat alternatives aimed at the food service industry. The idea for the company was formed to offer a solution to the lack of plant-based alternatives served at restaurants. High Time’s first product, a plant-based dried chicken mince was launched in August 2022. The chicken mince was claimed to be cuisine agnostic, shelf-stable, and preservative-free while offering the same taste, smell, and look as real chicken mince once cooked. The manufacturing process is done in New England and most of the ingredients are sourced from within the US according to the founders. The company further stated that it was trialing other meats such as beef, pork, and a dry egg solution but as of August 2022, its primary focus was on expanding its chicken product into more food service outlets.
Funding and financials
As of August 2022, the company had raised USD 355,000 from Sustainable Food Ventures, Techstars, and several angel investors. High Time Foods was also part of the Techstars Boston summer cohort.
