Workato offers a cloud-based platform that enables citizen and professional developers to integrate a range of data and apps and create end-to-end automations across several business functions, including finance, HR, sales, IT, and marketing. The platform suite of solutions includes robotic process automation (RPA), integration platform-as-a-service, business process automation, and chatbots. Users can publish APIs, build data integrations, and create customized apps and bots from scratch via the platform's low-code interface or use over 500,000 community-built automation templates (called “recipes”).
Moreover, the platform enables users to build tailored solutions for each business function, including automations for 1) accounting teams: Wuote-to-cash, accounts payable, and reporting, 2) sales and marketing teams: Campaign operations and lead management, 3) HR teams: Talent acquisition, onboarding, and collaboration, and 4) IT teams: Incident management and end-user support.
The platform also provides software infrastructure, named “Common Workato Runtime” (CWR), which handles capacity planning, load balancing, fault-tolerance, and run-time optimization. In September 2023, the company launched “Workflow Apps,” a no-code tool that enables users to build end-to-end workflow automation applications.
In November 2021, the company acquired RailsData, an Indian integration platform, for an undisclosed amount. Workato leveraged the company’s technology to power its own automation solutions and enable large customers to deploy services via application programming interfaces (APIs).
