Eclipse is a customizable rollup provider that allows developers to deploy customized app chains for their projects without having to worry about infrastructure, security, and reliability. It allows developers to select which virtual machine to connect their dApps to. As of March 2023, Eclipse was compatible with the Ethereum and Solana Virtual Machines and enabled deployments to the Solana, Celestia (Cosmos), Polygon, NEAR, and EigenLayer networks. The Eclipse testnet was slated for launch in Q1 2023.
The company also developed Polygon SVM (Sealevel virtual machine), the first Solana-equivalent layer-2 scaling solution in partnership with Polygon. This allows developers building dApps on the Solana network to migrate to Polygon SVM or go multichain. It also has a similar release schedule as the Eclipse testnet.
Funding and financials
Eclipse raised USD 50 million in Series A funding in March 2024. The round was co-led by Placeholder and Hack VC, with the funds earmarked to launch the Eclipse Mainnet during Q2 2024.
