Foody’s is a Spanish FoodTech company that develops plant-based meat alternatives. Its portfolio includes frozen and pre-cooked items, which include plant-based beef and chicken options such as burgers, nuggets, meatballs, and filets, available online and at retail outlets. In June 2023, the company debuted a 100% vegetable foie gras claiming to offer a similar appearance, taste, and texture as conventional foie gras. According to Foody’s, this product was the first of its kind to be produced on an industrial scale, with a capacity of 8,000 jars per day and retail distribution slated for September 2023.
Key customers and partnerships
In May 2023, Foody’s partnered with Cocuus, a Spanish biotech startup, to develop and commercialize industrial-scale 3D-bioprinted plant-based products. The partnership developed a soy-free, gluten-free, and low-fat vegan bacon as its first product, which it claimed replicates the flavor and texture of traditional bacon. Plant-based prawns, salmon, octopus, foie gras, and tuna were also in the pipeline. The partnership also developed a 3D-bioprinted plant-based tripe using a specially formulated hydrogel. The vegan tripe was not intended for commercialization and was developed to showcase the potential of 3D-bioprinting technology.
