Canada-based Xaba is a manufacturing control platform company that develops processes, control systems, and materials that automate and enable sustainable manufacturing. It uses AI to control industrial robots and enable additive manufacturing machines to synthesize materials or create digital twins. The company has two digital platforms, xCognition and xTrude.
xCognition is an AI-powered control system that enhances the accuracy, reliability, and adaptability of industrial robotics systems. By analyzing and representing the physical aspects of these systems, including their flexible, dynamic, mechanical, and tool-related characteristics, xCognition enables robots to perform tasks such as drilling, welding, assembling, riveting, laser cutting, and data gathering with precision and consistency. It functions as an industrial robotics digital twin, improving the performance and quality of manufactured products.
xTrude is another AI-driven control system that specifically targets fused deposition modeling (FDM) processes in 3D printing. It facilitates the production of significant functional components while minimizing common issues like de-lamination, collapse, and distortion. By eliminating the need for high-skilled domain experts for tuning via trial and error, xTrude enables the wide adoption of large-scale 3D printing.
Key customers and partnerships
The company formed a partnership with Breton and took the lead in creating an advanced, AI-driven 3D printer designed for large-scale printing. By utilizing Xaba's intellectual property in the areas of print process and multi-materials sustainable design, Breton was able to enhance and diversify its range of products.
As of January 2024, xCognition demonstrated a 10x improvement in absolute positioning and 5x in relative trajectory accuracy when deployed with robotic systems through partnerships with Lockheed Martin and Rolleri Robotic.
Funding and financials
In January 2024, the company secured CAD 2 million (USD 1.5 million) in a seed extension funding round led by BDC Capital's Deep Tech Venture Fund. The funds were used towards establishing a new robotics lab and launching the company’s two manufacturing platforms, xCognition and xTrude.
