Siemens Aktiengesellschaft (Siemens AG) is a Germany-based, multinational technology conglomerate (XETR: SIE) with a history of over 175 years. The company is one of the top 10 largest conglomerates in the world (May 2022) as well as the leading automation vendor worldwide (2020), and generated EUR 71.9 billion (USD 80.8 billion) revenue in 2022 .
Siemens’ business units include automation and digitization of process and manufacturing industries (Digital Industries), intelligent infrastructure for buildings and distributed energy systems (Smart Infrastructure), smart mobility solutions for rail and road (Mobility), and healthcare services (Siemens Healthineers). Of these, Siemens Healthineers was the largest in terms of revenue, accounting for a 32% share of total revenue in 2022. In addition to this, the company operates several portfolio companies (Large Drives Applications, Siemens Logistics, and Siemens Energy Assets) and Siemens Financial Services. Furthermore, in 2020, Siemens AG spun off Siemens Energy (its energy business) and retained 35% of its holding.

The company is aiming to transition its Digital Industries software operations into a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, in line with which Siemens introduced Siemens Xcelerator in 2019, which brings together its portfolio of software, services, and platforms as one offering.
