Ford Motor is an American multinational automobile manufacturer (NYSE: F) that develops, manufactures, and distributes vehicles, parts, and accessories. It also offers related financial services. The company is the third-largest US automaker by revenue (2023) behind General Motors (GM) and Toyota. Ford sold ~4.4 billion wholesale units and reported a revenue of USD 176.2 billion in 2023.
Ford offers automobiles under two brands: Ford and Lincoln—Ford is considered the mainstream brand, while Lincoln is considered a luxury. In the past, Ford owned five other luxury brands—Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Mercury—but, over time, it sold them to other companies and discontinued Mercury. Ford also owns a 32% stake in JMC, a publicly listed automobile manufacturer in China, which produces various Ford-branded and JMC-branded vehicles for the Chinese and other export markets. The company also offers vehicle-related financing and leasing in addition to engaging in mobility-related developments such as autonomous vehicles.
The US market accounted for the majority of the company’s revenue (~66%) in 2023. The company expects to promote EV sales to make up 40% of its global sales by 2030 and to produce 2 million+ EVs annually by 2026.
