Based in the UK, Darktrace is designed based on an open and extensible architecture that seamlessly integrates with already established workflows. The company offers AI-powered solutions that enable organizations to detect, respond to, and investigate cyberthreats. Its proprietary “Cyber AI” technology features self-learning algorithms that monitor an organization’s digital environment and detect threats that may bypass traditional signature-based solutions. Darktrace’s technology helps protect cloud environments, endpoints, APIs, industrial IoT, and operational technology devices across industries such as financial services, manufacturing, education, energy, utilities, technology, telecommunications, and healthcare.

Darktrace introduced new risk and compliance models for its DETECT and RESPONSE solutions in June 2023, targeting data leakage risks and intellectual property concerns around generative AI tools.

Darktrace acquired the attack surface management company Cybersprint for USD 53.7 million (EUR 47.5 million) in February 2022. The acquisition enhanced Darktrace’s existing detection and response tools with external vulnerability data and complemented its self-learning AI technology and inside visibility. It also accelerated its debut into new segments such as proactive AI cybersecurity and provided it with a second European R&D center in the Netherlands.

Key customers and partnerships

Darktrace counts companies such as KPMG, Suzuki, PremierOil, Samsung, and the NHS among its 4,700-strong clientele list. As of May 2021, the company staffed 1,500 employees globally.

Funding and financials

In April 2021, Darktrace was listed on the London Stock Exchange through an initial public offering that raised GBP 165.1 million (USD 233 million) at a valuation of GBP 1.7 billion (USD 2.4 billion).

As of June 2022, Darktrace had an employee headcount of more than 2,000 and over 30 offices. The company served 7,437 customers (up 32.1% YoY) in 110 countries and it recorded USD 415 million in revenue during FY2022 (up 45.7% YoY).
