SAP (XETR: SAP), founded in 1972, is a German multinational enterprise software provider. SAP offers a range of enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management applications, procurement applications software, and travel and expense management software for businesses. SAP is the global leader in ERP software market, with over 400,000 business customers as of 2021. SAP generated a revenue of EUR 30.9 billion (~USD 33.4 billion) in 2022.
Cloud-based software accounted for ~41% of SAP’s revenue, while software licensing (non-cloud software) and software support (after-sales services) accounted for ~7% and ~39% of total revenue, respectively. The Americas region was the largest revenue generator for SAP, contributing ~43% of the company’s total revenue, followed by the EMEA region (~42%) and the APJ region (~15%).
In June 2023 , SAP sold its stake in the experience management software platform, Qualtrics (previously acquired in 2018). In August 2022, SAP also divested from its cloud-based corporate learning solutions business, Litmos.
SAP expects to earn cloud revenue of around EUR 14.0 billion–14.4 billion (~USD 15.1 billion–15.6 billion) (EUR 11.4 billion (~USD 12.3 billion) in 2022 ), and cloud and software revenue (combined) of EUR 26.9 billion–27.4 billion (~USD 29.0 billion–29.6 billion) (EUR 25.4 billion (~ USD 27.4 billion) in 2022). Operating profit for the year is forecasted to range between EUR 8.6 billion – 8.9 billion (~USD 9.3 billion – 9.6 billion) (EUR 8.0 billion (~USD 8.6 billion) in 2022). SAP is focused on achieving carbon neutrality across its operations, as well as being committed to achieving net zero along its value chain by the end of 2023.
