Re:meat, founded in 2022, is claimed to be the first Swedish cultivated meat startup. It emerged from stealth in July 2023 and unveiled what it claims to be the world’s first cultivated Swedish meatballs. The company focuses on large-scale, locally produced sustainable meat and plans to build Scandinavia’s first large-scale cultivated meat facility. Further, Re:meat has developed an alternative for fetal bovine serum (FBS), allowing the company to deploy its resources toward scaling production.

Re:meat intends to develop cultivated beef as its first product and was investigating methods to produce minced beef to be sold as is or as hamburgers and meatballs, as of July 2023. The company expects to have a market-ready product by 2028-2030, targeting foodservice establishments and large-scale commercial kitchens.
