Pikamoon is an exploration and strategy-based role-playing game, drawing artistic inspiration from Fortnite and gameplay elements from Pokémon. The game operates on the Ethereum and MultiversX blockchains and offers two main modes: An offline campaign and an online multiplayer mode.
Gameplay involves real-time exploration across four of the game's regions and turn-based battles between players' Pikamoons, which are influenced by four basic elements: Earth, Water, Fire, and Electric. The company notes that its metaverse is designed to be playable by all ages and will not feature mature content. Further, the company is also developing the “Pikaverse,” where players' Pikamoon NFTs serve as avatars. These NFTs, graded from common to ultra-rare, are used to battle other monsters and complete missions to earn the in-game currency, $PIKA. This currency can be spent in the in-game marketplace on items to aid in navigating the Pikaverse. Players' avatars must navigate these regions to earn more $PIKA and upgrade their NFTs.
Pikamoon imposes a 0% buy and 10% sell tax on $PIKA transactions, with the sell taxes being used to fund in-game rewards, project development, and a portion being permanently burned.
The company intended to fully launch the Pikaverse and introduce its first generation Play-to-Earn system set sometime in 2024.
Funding and financials
In July 2023, Pikamoon raised USD 3.6 million in an ongoing initial coin offering (ICO). The funds raised from the ICO will be used to launch the company’s metaverse game, with an earning model that allows players to withdraw their in-game rewards directly to their wallet or bank account without needing a third party.
