AstroBeam is a VR game development studio focused on creating a multiplayer VR game that uses natural hand tracking and voice communication with peers and non-playable characters. It emphasizes creating a VR environment that is easy to approach and offers a natural way for players to interact with each other.
AstroBeam’s founder, Devin Reimer, previously co-founded Owlchemy Labs, which created the VR record-setting hits, Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator. He sold Owlchemy Labs to Google in 2017 and continued running the company at Google from 2018 to 2022.
Funding and financials
In November 2023, AstroBeam raised USD 3 million in a seed funding round, which included participation from The Venture Reality Fund, Anorak Ventures, Boost VC, TIRTA Ventures, and Oculus co-founder Nate Mitchell. The funds were earmarked for the development of its VR multiplayer game.
