Apica is a data management and active observability company founded in 2005 and headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. The company's flagship product, Apica Ascent, provides a suite of tools for load testing, web performance monitoring, and observability designed to help organizations optimize the performance of their cloud and mobile applications. Apica Ascent delivers active observability, automated root cause analysis, and advanced data management capabilities to quickly identify and resolve complex digital performance issues across multi-cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.

The platform acts as an indexing tool that aggregates data such as logs, traces, and network packets from multiple sources. It improves data quality by trimming excess data and performing enrichments. Apica's solutions allow companies to test applications using synthetic data that mimics real-world use cases in various scenarios, including checks on smart devices, set-top boxes, APIs, and database protocols. This synthetic monitoring approach enables proactive identification of issues before they impact end users.

In February 2024, Apica acquired Circonus, a telemetry data management company. This acquisition brought two key products into Apica's portfolio: IRONdb, a high-cardinality time series database capable of handling over 1 billion unique time series metric streams, and Passport, which provides fleet management capabilities for data collectors and centralized visibility into inventory agents. These additions enhanced Apica's ability to help customers manage large volumes of telemetry data efficiently.
