Launched in 2017, Dreem develops a headband that monitors brain activity to track sleep and uses auditory stimulation to help people fall asleep faster. The headband also tracks sleep quality, monitors heart rate, respiratory rate, and brain activity during sleep. Dreem’s app collects, analyzes, and presents users’ sleep data and makes recommendations to improve their sleep.
As of November 2020, the company had a team of 90 employees from various backgrounds including clinical research, therapy, engineering, and design. The company also holds 30 patents and reported around one million nights of sleep monitored as of November 2020. Personalized coaching programs, weekly sleep reports, and access to an online community through a smartphone app are also provided with the device.
In July 2023, Dreem’s R&D division was acquired by computational neurodiagnostics company Beacon Biosignals, aiming to integrate Dreem’s hardware with Beacon’s EEG analytics platform, enhancing capabilities in clinical trial assessments.
