Genvid Holdings’ broadcasting company (Genvid Technologies) offers a software development kit (SDK) that allows game developers to integrate interactive livestream elements with esports broadcasts. This means that developers would have ultimate control of how they want to engage fans using multiple camera angles, instant replays, etc. Further, the SDK can be incorporated into broadcasts across streaming platforms (e.g. Twitch, YouTube, Facebook). Genvid operates a royalty model for its SDK whereby it charges an undisclosed amount from developers when they monetize Genvid-enabled content. The company was founded by Jacob Novak and Fabien Ninoles, both of whom are industry veterans having worked at Japanese video game holding company, Square Enix. The company has offices in California, New York, Montreal, Berlin and Tokyo.
Genvid raised USD 113 million in a Series C funding round co-led by Valor Equity Partners and Atreides Management in July 2021. The round included the participation of new investors Third Point Ventures, Cobalt Capital, and LightShed Ventures. The round follows its USD 6 million extended Series B round in March 2020 with the cash going toward establishing its new subsidiary, ‘Genvid Entertainment’. It will be dedicated to producing massive interactive live events (MILE, a format for interactive entertainment). Further, Genvid revealed its plans to double its team (currently 80) by July 2022 and to launch SaaS and API products in 2022 allowing smaller developers and studios to build, launch, and run MILEs.
Genvid launched a publishing division for MILEs and hired former Ubisoft executive, Arthur von Nagel, as vice president of production at its subsidiary, Genvid Entertainment in February 2022 .
