Immortals Gaming Club (IGC) is an esports organization that operates two business units. Under the IGC esports umbrella, the team operates Immortals, Los Angeles Valiant (Overwatch League franchise), and Made in Brazil (MiBR), a Brazilian esports organization. In addition, it operates “Gamers Club”, a Brazilian Counter-Strike tournament community hub, which it acquired in 2019 (utilizing its Series B funding round in May 2019) as part of its expansion into the Brazilian market. IMG entered the mobile esports scene with the addition of a roster to compete in League of Legends Wild Rift in August 2021. As of August 2021, IMG has established partnerships with brands such as Progressive Insurance, Overlock (a gamer-focused beverage brand), HotelPlanner, and Redragon (a gaming peripherals manufacturer, Zoomph (a social media analytics platform). More recently, it signed a three-year deal with cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp.
In June 2018, IGC acquired MiBR to penetrate the South American esports market and also to leverage the teams’ exposure to Counter-Strike esports. IGC acquired Optic Gaming’s parent Infinite Esports and Entertainment in June 2019, valuing the target at USD 100 million in enterprise value. The company retained Optic’s Call of Duty World League team and League of Legends franchise which has been rebranded as “Immortals”, while revealing plans to divest Optic’s Counter-Strike team. The company divested Optic’s Overwatch League franchise, the Houston Outlaws, which they acquired as part of the acquisition.
As of August 2021, IGC has accumulated USD 1.2 million in prize money, with USD 8.5 million in revenue in 2020 and a valuation of USD 210 million as of November 2019, as estimated by Forbes. In November 2020, IGC raised USD 26 million led by Meg Whitman (former eBay CEO, board member of IGC), AEG, and March Capital Partners. The funding raise was announced along with the sale of its Call of Duty League (CDL) Los Angeles franchise to 100 Thieves. The company is expected to use the fresh capital (from both the funding round and the sale of the CDL franchise) to invest in Gamers Club, which has experienced a 400% increase in core subscribers and a 900% increase in its monthly active users since inception, and its other team brands.
