Zenlayer offers a range of hardware, software, and data centers for the computing industry. These include metal servers, cloud networking, edge computing networks, and edge data center services. Its data center custom colocation and managed hosting options are provided in over 220 locations (edge Points of Presence, PoPs) across the globe (with 150 in the Asia-Pacific region), as of January 2022. The company noted that it enables user enterprises to deliver their applications to over 85% of the global internet population within 25 milliseconds.
The company offers a port-based purchasing model to streamline network management through real-time configuration adjustments. Its features include IP transit, data center and public cloud interconnections, edge computing via bare metal and virtual machines, and layer-2 and layer-3 networking services.
As of May 2021, Zenlayer had 32 patents filed and granted, relating to SDN routing and edge traffic management, among others.
Zenlayer acquired DAHO Networks (software-defined networking platform) in February 2019, which led to it opening an office in Hangzhou devoted solely to research and development.
Key customers and partnerships
Zenlayer caters to large enterprises including LinkedIn and Alibaba Cloud. The company offers its services in a range of emerging markets including India, China, Thailand and Brazil, among others, and allows its users to benefit from Zenlayer's partnerships with regional providers.
In November 2020, EdgeConneX, a leading data center colocation provider for edge computing, announced a partnership with Zenlayer, to deliver new “Edge Cloud and Networking solutions” to enterprises that are within EdgeConneX’s global data center network. Target markets for the partnership included healthcare providers, cloud gaming companies, financial institutions, manufacturers, and retailers.
Zenlayer also partnered with Hut 8 Mining Corp in August 2022, to enter Canada and serve Web 3.0 and blockchain customer.
In March 2024, the company partnered with Telin, an international provider of voice and data services, to offer Edge computing services on Telin's digital platform.
Funding and financials
The company noted that its revenue had grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 40% over 2017-2020.
In January 2022, Zenlayer raised an extension to its Series C funding led by MDI Ventures (the investment arm of Indonesia’s largest telco, Telkom), bringing its total Series C funding to USD 62 million (after raising USD 50 million in Series C funds in May 2021). Zenlayer earmarked the funds to further expand its position in Indonesia and its surrounding regions by leveraging Telkom’s pre-existing networks.
