Sunflower Labs is a technology company that develops autonomous security systems for commercial, industrial, and residential properties. Its flagship product is the Beehive System, a drone-in-a-box solution launched in 2020 that expands and enhances existing security and video surveillance systems.
The Beehive System consists of three main components: the Bee, the Hive, and Sunflowers. The Bee is a lightweight autonomous drone designed for high-quality video capture, fast recharging, and reliable landing even in adverse weather conditions. It can respond to activity anywhere on a property within 30 seconds for a 4-acre site and 90 seconds for a 10-acre site.
The Hive is a compact base station that houses the system's intelligence, rapidly recharges the Bee in just 15 minutes, and processes data using machine learning and neural networks. The Sunflowers are disguised motion and vibration sensors that monitor activity on the property, distinguishing between people, animals, and vehicles.
When the system detects suspicious activity, it alerts the property owner via a mobile app, allowing them to launch the Bee for real-time aerial footage and observation. The Bee autonomously plans a safe flight path, detects obstacles, conducts a security sweep, and returns to the Hive without manual operation.
Sunflower Labs was founded in 2016 and is part of All Turtles, a product studio focused on distributed work and life. The company first unveiled the Beehive System at CES 2020 and has since secured USD 15 million in funding. In January 2022, Sunflower Labs announced partnerships with ADT, 10 Federal Self Storage, Swiss Federal Railways, Security Robotics Development & Solutions, and the Gerald R. Ford International Airport for deploying the Beehive System.
