Makr Shakr

Italy-based Makr Shakr makes the automated robot bartending units “Toni”, “Bruno”, and “Guido.” Toni, its primary offering, is a stationary bar, while Bruno is a mobile unit designed for events, and Guido is a self-driving prototype under development as of June 2021.

Toni, first commercialized in 2019, is equipped with two articulating robotic arms that can prepare a maximum of 120 drinks per hour. The unit occupies a footprint of 10 square meters (108 sq. ft.) and is capable of making cocktails, spirits, juices, sodas, garnishes, and coffee drinks. Customers can order customized drinks via its mobile app or an attached tablet. As of February 2022, the unit was operational in several cities including Las Vegas, Milan, Prague, Reykjavik, Dubai, Amsterdam and Singapore as well as on nine Royal Caribbean cruise ships.

Makr Shakr's business model includes outright sale of its stationary units and renting out the mobile version for events. The company claims that Toni—priced at USD 110,000—can generate a 5-year ROI up to 60% and reach break-even in 21 months.
