Harness is a software delivery platform that provides continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) solutions for enterprises. Founded in 2017 by Jyoti Bansal, the company offers a suite of tools designed to automate and streamline the software development lifecycle. Harness's platform includes modules for CI, CD, feature flags, security testing orchestration, service reliability management, and chaos engineering. The platform leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to detect deployment quality and automatically roll back failed deployments. Harness aims to simplify the DevOps process by reducing the need for custom scripting and manual oversight in software delivery pipelines. The company's CD solution allows developers to deploy code changes within minutes of a pull request being merged, with necessary tests and scans run during the pipeline. Harness also provides cloud cost management capabilities, offering visibility into cloud resource consumption with hourly granularity. In January 2024, Harness reported surpassing USD 100 million in annual recurring revenue and serving over 600 enterprise customers. The platform facilitated over 44 million code deployments for customers in 2023, more than double the previous year's figure.

Key customers and partnerships

Harness counts some of the world's largest retailers and banks among its customers. Notable clients include Ancestry, which reported an 80-to-1 reduction in developer effort for implementing new features across pipelines. Ulta Beauty credited Harness with saving months of time in bringing their ecommerce platform to market. Other key customers include Citi Bank, National Australia Bank, Booking.com, United Airlines, and Yum! Brands. In February 2023, Harness announced its acceptance into Platform One, the US Air Force's DevSecOps platform, making its CI, CD, and Security Testing Orchestration modules available to US government agencies. This certification enables government agencies to increase speed-to-mission and reduce the burden on developer teams. In January 2024, Harness acquired Armory Inc., a competitor focused on automating continuous deployment workflows, in an all-cash deal valued at approximately USD 7 million.
