SCOR SE (Euronext: SCR) is a global reinsurance company headquartered in Paris, France. Founded in 1970, SCOR has grown to become one of the world's largest reinsurers, ranking 5th globally based on gross written premiums.
SCOR's operations are divided into three main segments: Property & Casualty (P&C) reinsurance, Life & Health reinsurance, and investments. In P&C, SCOR provides proportional and non-proportional reinsurance across property and casualty treaties. The Life & Health segment offers mortality, longevity, disability and critical illness coverage. SCOR's investment arm manages the group's investment portfolio.
For the full year 2023, SCOR reported gross written premiums of EUR 19.4 billion and net income of EUR 812 million. As of Q1 2024, SCOR's solvency ratio stood at 215%, in the upper part of its optimal range of 185-220%.
SCOR has implemented a new strategic plan called "Forward 2026" which focuses on profitable growth and reducing earnings volatility. The company aims to take advantage of favorable reinsurance market conditions, particularly in property catastrophe lines where rates have hardened significantly.
At the January 2024 renewals, SCOR grew its reinsurance portfolio by 13.6% to over EUR 4.2 billion in estimated gross premium income. The company achieved positive price changes of 3.1% overall, including 6.6% on non-proportional business.
SCOR's leadership team is headed by CEO Thierry Léger, who joined in May 2023 after a long career at Swiss Re. The company employs over 3,000 people across offices in more than 30 countries worldwide.
