CMR Surgical is a prominent medical device company specializing in robotic-assisted surgery. The company has developed Versius, a small, modular, and versatile surgical robotic system designed to assist surgeons in complex soft tissue surgeries. Its portable design allows seamless integration into hospital workflows, enabling high utilization across multiple surgical departments. The system's modularity allows surgeons to use only the required number of arms for a specific procedure, optimizing port placement and facilitating precise and accurate movements through its fully-wristed instruments and 3D HD vision. In October 2024, the company received FDA clearance for Versius.

Versius has been utilized for a wide range of procedures, including prostatectomies, abdominal wall repairs, hysterectomies, proctocolectomies, esophagectomies, and lobectomies. It has also been employed in combined operations such as endometrial tissue removal, rectopexy, ureteroplasty, fundoplication with Nissen's technique, gastric bypass, and cholecystectomy. As of March 2024, over 20,000 surgical cases were completed using Versius globally, with over 160 installations worldwide.

In addition to its surgical capabilities, Versius incorporates a digital ecosystem that captures meaningful data to support surgeons' continuous learning. Through the Versius Connect app, Versius Trainer, and the CMR clinical registry, the system provides insights to improve surgical care.

CMR Surgical's Versius global install base grew by more than 50% from 2022 to January 2024.
