Based in Greece, Augmenta develops precision agriculture solutions by combining sensor, satellite, and drone technologies with AI and machine learning software to produce its Augmeta System, an integrated precision farming system consisting of Augmenta Field Analyzer hardware, in-cabin application interface, and a web platform[SAA1].
Augmenta Field Analyzer provides variable-rate application automation of crop inputs, and allows farmers to make precise decisions with agriculture operations such as field analysis and fleet monitoring. The hardware device, which is fitted onto tractors, scans and analyzes crops as the tractor moves across a field. The web platform provides crop health information, crop input statistics, and crop images, enabling real-time monitoring. The hardware is priced at USD 12,000 and [SAA2] affords farmers unlimited access to Augmenta’s basic monitoring platform. Premium services are charged at USD 1–4 per acre per year.
According to the company, its product can be implemented across various crop types such as barley, cotton, corn, canola, rice, soybean, and sugarcane. As of April 2021, the company operated in 16 countries across North America, the UK, the EU, Australia, and South Africa. As of April 2022, the company claims that customers have used the product across more than 121,583 acres and it has helped increase their income by USD 926,000. Augmenta also claims that its Field Analyzer has provided significant input reduction for broadacre crops with 9% savings on nitrogen and 15% savings on plant growth regulators[SAA3] ) as well as an average yield increase of 2%.
To further expand distribution of its solution across the US, Augmenta partnered with one the largest US-based dealers in agriculture and construction equipment, Titan Machinery, in April 2022 .
In April 2021 , Augmenta raised USD 8 million in a Series A funding round led by CNH Industrial and Pymwymic. The company expects to use the funds to expand the reach of its product and build a global distribution network.
In March 2023 , the company was acquired by CNH Industrial, a leading manufacturer of agriculture and industrial equipment and commercial vehicles to accelerate the growth of their Sense & Act technology at an enterprise value of USD 110 million, subject to customary adjustments.
