UK-based C-Capture produces materials that are used in carbon capture and storage (CCS) applications including absorbents and solvents. The company claims that its patented carbon capture technology consumes 40% less energy compared with other commercially available technologies. The technology employs new types of capture solvents that are amine and nitrogen-free, cost-effective, and safe. Additionally, the solvents used in the process can be produced on a large scale using biological sources.
Key customers and partnerships
In December 2023, C-Capture started Europe’s first carbon capture trial in the falt glass industry at Pilkington UK's manufacturing plant. This was followed by a new carbon capture trial in the cement manufacturing sector in partnership with Heidelberg Materials.
Funding and financials
C-Capture’s most recent funding round was in September 2023, when it raised GBP 10 million (USD 12.4 million) in venture funding from Northern Gritstone. Existing investors such as BP Ventures, Drax, and new investor Kiko Ventures also participated in this round. The proceeds were allocated to support C-Capture's commercialization process by testing its carbon removal pilot plant in Yorkshire. Furthermore, the company intends to develop a commercial demonstration plant capable of capturing 100–200 tons of CO2 per day.
