Conductor is an enterprise-level search engine optimization (SEO) marketing platform specializing in organic search (search results that have not been influenced by paid advertising). Conductor’s platform contains a number of SEO tools for researching competitors, tracking keyword rankings, and measuring performance and share impact. Content marketers can also make use of the platform’s built-in AI to receive content intelligence and recommendations to optimize organic marketing campaigns. Through its technology partners, Conductor’s platform can be integrated with the rest of a firm’s marketing stack. As of October 2021, Conductor’s customers included Visa, Citi, Fossil, Twitter, and Ticketmaster. 

Conductor’s “customer-first” approach, with a vision to motivate marketers to shift from paid media and engage with customers organically, has been commended by its customers and recognized by industry analysts. Conductor was also recognized as the highest-ranked SEO platform by Forrester in its Q3 2020 report where it received top scores for functions such as keyword research data, integrations, and opportunity forecasting.

In March 2018, Conductor was acquired for an undisclosed amount by WeWork; a leading provider of shared workspaces. However, subsequent to WeWork’s failed IPO, in December 2019, the firm once again became independent through a management-led buyout. 

Key customers and partnerships

In July 2022, the firm entered into a a strategic partnership with Adthena, a paid search intelligence platform to broaden the range of search marketing solutions for enterprise users.   

Funding and financials

In November 2021, Conductor raised USD 150 million in a venture funding round led by Bregal Sagemount on a valuation of USD 525 million. The purpose of the fundraising was partly to invest in its SEO platform, while the remainder would be to issue secondary shares. Subsequent to this, in February 2022 the firm entered into an agreement to acquire ContentKing , a real-time SEO auditing and monitoring solution. More recently, in February 2023, the firm acquired Searchmetrics , a European SEO platform to to accelerate its expansion into the European market.
