CodeSandbox is a Dutch company offering a collaborative web development tool for remote product teams. The company was founded in 2017 by ex-Facebook developer Ives van Hoorne.
It is a platform where product teams can collaborate while building web applications. The platform is being used by more than 2.5 million developers (as of February 2021), and around 10 million projects have been created on the platform to date.
CodeSandbox raised EUR 10.8 million (approximately USD 12.7 million) in Series A funding led by EQT Ventures fund, with participation from existing investors Kleiner Perkins and Arches Capital. The fresh capital was used to launch its team-based product and expand its development team.
The product launched in February 2021 as “Team Pro.” Team Pro is a browser-based platform that can be used across product, design, and quality assurance teams. The platform also brings some new features, including customized registries, allowing teams to utilize their own component libraries and design systems. Furthermore, the platform is equipped with expansive commenting features that enable teams to provide feedback on code. Currently, it charges a monthly subscription fee of USD 24 per editor per workspace.
