Pyrum Innovations is a Germany-based tire recycling company utilizing a patented thermolysis process. The company’s technology has multiple stages that facilitate precise temperature and pressure control. The process produces vapors that condense into oil at low temperatures, gaseous hydrocarbon compounds, and coke. Pyrum's pyrolysis process is powered by gas obtained during recycling and the surplus is resold as thermal or electrical energy.
The company offers input materials such as pyrolysis oil, gas, and carbon black from used tires. Furthermore, Pyrum provides customized recycling solutions for its customers based on their applications. The technology has evolved from recycling used tires to plastic waste, carbon fiber-reinforced plastics, bitumen, and other complicated waste streams.
Key customers and partnerships
In July 2022, Pyrum initiated a joint venture with MCapital GmbH, Textor GmbH, and Auer Holding GmbH to build and operate a pyrolysis plant in Straubing, Bavaria, aiming to go live by 2024.
