Based in the UK, Modulous develops prefabricated multifamily housing units. The company uses a software platform that automates the design, cost, and programming of prefabricated homes that generates a 3D design structure of the building and proprietary “kit of parts” technology. This enables them to procure standardized components from the construction supply chain and assemble them to create buildings. All the components included in the kit have a digital equivalent in the software, which enables upfront customer access to key details like pricing.
Modulous claims that their houses reduce energy, water, and materials wastage by around 70%. The houses were net zero for operational carbon as of September 2022 and the company expects to eliminate carbon emissions in manufacturing, assembly, transportation, and installation by 2030.
Funding and financials
Modulous raised GBP 10 million (~USD 11.5 million) in a Series A funding round in September 2022 to scale the company’s operations.
