Founded in 2020 by the co-founders of Degreed, David Blake, Eric Sharp, Yael Kaufmann, and Taylor Blake, Learn In claims to be the first talent-building platform for companies, providing targeted, intense, and expert-led instruction. The upskilling-as-a-service platform allows companies to identify talent-building goals, design skill-based programs, learn collaboratively in cohorts with coaches, and access flexible financing. Companies can browse a curated marketplace of bootcamps and certificate programs that address business needs and cover in-demand skills. Companies can also encourage course completion by targeting specific teams and offering employees sabbaticals to acquire essential new skills. Learn In also delivers analytics showing the ROI on upskilling spending.
The Learn In model has been particularly successful as an alternative to the layoffs and furloughs resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. Employees are able to use their time at home productively to re-skill and upskill before returning to work post-pandemic, and companies are able to offer learning sabbaticals to train and retain employees at a lower pay rate. The company claims that internal talent development costs less than hiring new employees, closes skill gaps, and enables boosts employee retention and morale.
In March 2022, the company raised USD 10 million in a Series A funding round led by Firework Ventures, and will use the funds for platform development, to expand its go-to-market team, and increase its customer success capabilities.
