Strava: The social network for fitness enthusiasts
Strava offers a fitness app for various indoor and outdoor sports, with a focus on runners and cyclists. The app allows users to log activity, share routes, discover new or better-optimized routes, and connect to fitness devices. The app additionally has a social network aspect through which users can upload photos of their routes, comment on other’s routes, compete on leaderboards, and create/join groups.
The app offers basic functions, such as activity tracking, device support, social network access, and location tracking, free of cost.
The paid version (at USD 7.99 per month) offers additional features, such as route optimization, leaderboards, tracking on multiple devices, data analytics, goal setting, personal heatmaps, and other quality-of-life features.
As of February 2024, the app was reported to have over 120 million global users across 190 countries.
