Heliogen, a concentrated solar startup, has moved from design to testing and development phase for its previously announced concentrated solar demonstration facility for Woodside Petroleum.

The project received USD 50 million funding from Woodside, together with Heliogen’s previously announced USD 39 million grant from the US Department of Energy (DOE). Heliogen plans to recognize USD 80 million in total revenue from Woodside and US DOE.

 • Moreover, Heliogen partnered with Hanwha Power Systems, a South Korean energy equipment manufacturer, to develop a 5 MW electrical power block integrated with thermal energy storage. The two companies have further agreed to produce and deliver the power blocks for the Mojave, California demonstration project.

 • Heliogen also collaborated with Vacuum Process Engineering (VPE), a thermal engineering company, and Solex Thermal Science, a heat exchange manufacturer, to develop a heat exchanger for its power block.
