Coldquanta acquires Super.tech; launches the world’s first cold-atom quantum computer

Product updates
M&A

 • Boulder-based quantum hardware company ColdQuanta has acquired Chicago-based quantum software company Super.tech for an undisclosed amount, making it a full-stack quantum computing company. Simultaneously, the company launched Hilbert—reportedly the world’s first gate-based cold atom quantum computer.

 • Through the transaction, Coldquanta will gain access to Super.tech’s software and algorithmic capabilities as well as workforce expertise and talent, which will be used to improve Hilbert’s error-correction capabilities and pulse-level optimization for better circuit performance. Coldquanta will also form an office in Chicago to leverage the innovation and R&D capabilities of the University of Chicago, the Chicago Quantum Exchange, and the overall quantum ecosystem in the city.

Coldquanta’s Hilbert, which reached 100 qubits last year, will be commercially available to its beta customers via the cloud and is expected to be publicly accessible by the end of 2022.
