Tesla, the developer of “Tesla Semi” battery-electric Class 8 semi-trucks with autonomous capabilities, has opened its reservations and preorders to the public.
Tesla Semi comes in two models with different price tags depending on the range. The 300-mile range model is priced at USD 150,000, while the 500-mile range model carries a price tag of USD 180,000. Customers can place orders for a deposit of USD 20,000.
Unveiled in November 2017, Tesla Semi comes with its self-driving technology “Tesla Autopilot.” The autopilot feature is equipped with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warnings, and event recording with Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Level 2 automation.

However, the company pushed back mass production of the truck to 2023 because of supply chain shortages; it began limited production in December last year.</ul>
