Starship Technologies, an autonomous delivery droid manufacturer, has rolled out a pilot project in Cambourne in Cambridgeshire, UK in partnership with convenience store chain Co-op and the Cambridgeshire County Council. This marks the company’s entry into Cambridgeshire.
During the pilot, Starship droids will deliver orders from a Co-op store in Upper Cambourne, covering around 12,000 residents living in 5,000 homes in the area. The service is likely to be expanded across the county depending on the success of the pilot.

Analyst QuickTake: Starship Technologies currently has commercial operations in two UK towns, namely, Milton Keynes and Northampton —of which Co-op has been a partner since day one. The expansion into Cambridgeshire has been a part of Co-op’s plan as announced in late 2021. At the time, Co-op also mentioned its intention to bring robotic deliveries to the North of England, once they establish the service in Cambridgeshire. Starship Technologies also has operations in the US and other European countries in addition to the UK.
