Klarna, the largest global BNPL solution provider, is reportedly in the market for USD 1 billion in fresh capital but it could come at a significant discount to its previous valuation. Reports revealed that the valuation could come in at the low USD 30 billion range. Goldman Sachs is the advisor to the deal.
<ul><li> Analyst QuickTake : The steep cut in valuation could be attributed to the rising interest rate environment, which reduces margins of BNPL players, and the pressure on consumer disposable income as a result of inflation. Klarna’s most recent funding round came in June 2021 , when it raised a whopping USD 639 million at a USD 45.6 billion valuation. It was also reportedly in the early stages of finalizing a fresh funding round that would value the startup at USD 50 billion–60 billion, according to Bloomberg, in February.</ul>
