OTTO Motors partners with Ek Robotics for technology integration

Product updates

 • OTTO Motors, a Canadian provider of autonomous mobile robots (AMR), partnered with Ek Robotics, a provider of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) for production and warehouse logistics based in the UK, to integrate its AMR software with Ek Robotics’ transport robots.

 • Ek Robotics currently offers X MOVE 150 and X MOVE 2000 as AMRs. The 300, 600, and 1,200 variants are only available as AGVs and the companies will work together to introduce them as both AGVs and AMRs so that customers can pick between the two. The new variants are expected to enter the market early next year.

 • The companies are also looking at offering Ek Robotics’ VARIO MOVE forklift vehicles as AMRs.

Analyst QuickTake: OTTO Motors entered into several tech partnerships last year with Siemens Canada, Significans Automation, Ultimation Industries, and several other global partners to expand its AMR capabilities and market reach. However, the partnership with Ek Robotics marks its first with an AGV manufacturer. By expanding its use cases to AGVs, this new partnership will help OTTO Motors expand its product portfolio and market reach in the global logistics market.
