Anaergia, a TSX-listed waste-to-energy company, announced the commissioning of its second biomethane facility “Calimera Bio” in Italy.
The new facility will convert 24,000 tons of organic waste into 2.19 million cubic meters of renewable natural gas (RNG) per annum, by utilizing Anaergia’s proprietary digestion technology. The remains of the anaerobic digestion process will be used to create 9,000 tons of natural fertilizer per year.
Anaergia led the project as the technology provider and will retain 60% ownership of the facility. The company will partner with a regional waste management company to support the construction of its new facility.
