Carbon Engineering and 1PointFive partner to deploy DAC plants

Partnerships

 • Carbon Engineering, a Canadian direct air capture (DAC) and air-to-fuel (ATF) startup, has extended its partnership with 1PointFive, a DAC joint venture between Oxy Low Carbon Ventures and Rasheen Capital Management, to deploy DAC projects globally.

 • As per the partnership, the plants will use Carbon Engineering’s DAC technology, while 1PointFive will undertake the construction and deployment of the plants by leveraging Oxy’s project engineering expertise.

 • The two companies expect to standardize the design of the DAC plants, modularize plant components and equipment, undertake mass production, and assemble on-site DAC plants with an established supply chain.

 • 1PointFive plans to deploy 70 DAC facilities by 2035, with a capacity to capture one million tons of CO2 per annum.

Analyst QuickTake: Carbon Engineering has been working with 1PointFive since August 2020, with the latter providing support in scaling Carbon Engineering’s technology. The two companies have constructed a DAC innovation center in Canada and a DAC plant in the US. In March this year, 1PointFive also utilized Carbon Engineering’s DAC technology to sell 400,000 tons of carbon removal credits to Airbus.
