Upward Farms (formerly SEED & ROE), an aquaponic vertical farm producing microgreens and fish, has partnered with leading packaging line solutions provider Harpak-ULMA to launch fully automated, scalable packaging operations at Upward Farms’ vertical farming facilities.
<ul><li>As per the partnership, Harpak-ULMA will first provide its packaging solutions for Upward Farms’ upcoming 250,000 sq ft Pennsylvania facility. Harpak’s packaging solutions use remote connectivity, monitoring, and augmented reality to leverage sophisticated smart controls that can carry out advanced self-diagnostics and assist in operations and maintenance of the packaging process. Harpak claims that its connected solution offers high reliability and minimizes waste.</ul>
<ul><li> Analyst QuickTake : Upward Farms announced in January 2022 that it is building a 250,000 sq ft facility in Pennsylvania (expected 2023) to support its target of supplying fresh microgreens and hybrid striped bass to 100 million Americans in the Northeast US. This partnership, in addition to the partnership with GreenPoint Fish and Lobster in December 2021 , adds to the efforts Upward Farms has taken to reach its goal.</ul>
